Sister Corine Murray Awarded The Living Loehe Award
On Sunday, May 14, 2017, Sister Corine Murray was awarded The Living Loehe Award by Wartburg Theological Seminary during their commencement ceremony in Dubuque, Iowa.
The Living Loehe Award was established in 1973 as a way of honoring individuals who have given distinguished service to and through the church and exemplify Christ’s call to be disciples in the context of their own daily lives and professional commitments.
Sister Corine exemplifies the Loehe tradition through her continued dedication to service. Sister Corine most recently served as the founding executive director of the Presentation Lantern Center from 2001-2016. The Presentation Lantern offers hospitality, educational opportunities and advocacy to adult immigrants, especially women. A graduate of Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa, and St. John University in Minnesota, Sister Corine has also taught at junior high and high schools in Mason City, Storm Lake, Algona and Waterloo, all in Iowa, as well as provided pastoral ministry to parishes in Terre Haute, Indiana; Iowa City, Iowa; and a cluster of five rural parishes west of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Sister Corine reflects, “I deeply appreciate the kind words and The Living Loehe Award I received for my ministry at Presentation Lantern Center. My experience at the Presentation Lantern Center provided the opportunity to meet and welcome people from around the world and enflesh our charism of hospitality, the legacy of the Sisters of the Presentation foundress, Nano Nagle.”
