National Catholic Sisters Week 2018
March 8, 2018 - March 14, 2018
Thursday, March 8 - Throwback Thursday
On International Women's Day, we celebrate our founding mothers who were strong women of strength and vision. In 1775 Nano Nagle founded the Sisters of the Presentation in Cork, Ireland. One hundred years later, Nano passed her lantern onto Mother Vincent Hennessy who founded the Dubuque Sisters of the Presentation.
Since 1874, the sisters have played a significant role in continuing Nano’s work of love. With a desire to joyfully go where need calls most loudly, Presentation Sisters boldly grasp the lantern, tend its light and pass it on to ensure that the light of Nano’s hospitality, compassion, love and hope continues to shine among all, transforming the world in the process.
