Lantern Light, Inc.

photoIn August 2003, in response to the 50th Anniversary of the Conference of Presentation Sisters, this group of eight North American congregations initiated a Collaborative Ministry Project to meet the needs of the poor, homeless and underserved in New Orleans, Louisiana. Lantern Light, Inc. was to begin in September 2005.

Hurricane Katrina delayed the project's start date. Just weeks after Katrina, however, Presentation sisters from various congregations arrived to address catastrophic needs in Tulane County, one of the poorest counties in the United States.

Among the sisters who have served since its inception:

  • Beth Driscoll, Dubuque, IA
  • Vera Butler, U.S. Province of the Union
  • Enid Storey, New Windsor, NY
  • Marie Roche, St. John's, Newfoundland, CA
  • Joan White, St. John's, Newfoundland, CA
  • Anna Raimon, New Windsor, NY
  • Mary Dennis Lentsch, Dubuque, IA
  • Phyllis Gill, Aberdeen, SD
  • Maureen Nolan, U.S. Province of the Union
