Sponsoring
a specific Presentation sister in her ministry:
Many Presentation
sisters have chosen the challenging opportunity of
ministering among
the poor, but are often not compensated enough to
meet community needs.
The ministry of many Presentation sisters are
totally or partially
supported by your generous donations. You, partnering
with one of our
sisters, can bring light to many places throughout the
United States
and Bolivia.
Bolivia
Each year the
people of Bolivia
suffer from hunger and disease
caused by poor sanitation
and
living conditions. Sisters Julianne
Brockamp, Maura McCarthy,
Rita Menart, Mery Cary Paz and Suzanne Takes brighten
the lives of many Bolivians by engaging in education, housing initiatives
and leadership programs. They work to shelter the homeless, heal the
sick and
empower the weak.
New
Orleans, LA
In 2005, Sister
Beth Driscoll
joined four other Presentation
sisters to serve
in New Orleans, LA,
in Tulane County,
one of the
poorest counties in the United
States. Since the Katrina hurricane,
they have
established
"Lantern
Light" ministries which offers a daily
lunch program, groceries,
clothing
and hygiene assistance,
identification
and emergency
assistance.
Okolona,
MS
A lack of education
extinguishes dreams and
goals. In 1994, Sister Jean Ann Meyer was
assigned to serve as a teacher for the EXCEL
program in Okolona, MS.
In 2007, she was joined by Sister Lisa Schmidt. Their involvement
in
the EXCEL program opens the door to
knowledge through
educational services and
programs for children and their families.
Through
their commitment to education, they ignite a light that burns forever
in the
eyes of children.
Dubuque,
IA
When
a person has no means to
feed her family, it feels as though
she could
be swallowed up by the
darkness of desperation. At the
Dubuque Community
Food Pantry,
Sister Lynn Mary Wagner
strives to shed
some light into this
darkness by distributing food and
supplies to the
hungry. This ministry
provides a safety net of hope and
relief.
