IMMERSION:
Urban Plunge/8th Day Center for Peace
Experience:
An immersion into the systems and structures of the urban environment from the perspective of justice, spirituality and ministry. Participants will hear speakers and visit a variety of social services that impact people’s lives. Daily prayer includes scripture and reflection.
This Urban Plunge experience
is sponsored by the 8th Day Center for Justice out
of Chicago, IL. It is a weeklong
immersion into the systems and structures of the urban
environment from the perspective of justice, spirituality,
and ministry. Skills learned during the Urban Plunge
are transferable to any ministry. Social Justice process
with immigrant rights, legal aid for incarcerated mothers,
Arab American Action network are but a few experiences
provided in the past. About 500 people have
participated in the program since its inception in 1977. Please
consider participating this year. Information learned
during this Urban Plunge is invaluable to any ministry, as well as
promising a personal life changing experience.
Requirements:
A warm jacket and an openness to diversity.
Cost:
$80 per person for transportation, food and housing
