We, the Associates and the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed
Virgin Mary, dedicate our lives to God through evangelization, prayer,
service and hospitality.
Article I: Name
The name of this body will be the Sisters of the Presentation of the
Blessed Virgin Mary Associate Advisory Committee, Dubuque, Iowa.
Article II: Purpose
Section 1: The Associate Advisory Committee (hereafter called the Advisory
Committee) seeks ways to encourage the associates to share in the
mission of Jesus as expressed through the mission of the Sisters
of the Presentation.
Section 2: The Advisory Committee assists the Leadership of the Sisters
of the Presentation in their role as chief implementers of the mission of the
Sisters of the Presentation.
Section 3: The Advisory Committee will make recommendations to the leadership
team and the co-directors of the Associate Partnership regarding matters that
affect the associates. Following the approval of the Leadership of the Sisters
of the Presentation, the implementation becomes the responsibility of the co-directors.
Article III: Membership
Section 1: The Leadership Team of the Sisters of the Presentation will
appoint members of the Advisory Committee. Advisory Committee members
may make recommendations for committee membership to the leadership
team.
Section 2: The Advisory Committee will consist of 6-10 members of both
sisters and associates. A member of the leadership team will act as
a liaison to the Advisory Committee.
Article IV: Term
Section 1: Members will serve a term of three (3) years and may be
re-
appointed to two (2) additional consecutive terms.
Section 2: Starting in the fall of 2001, one-fourth of the committee will
be appointed or re-appointed. The appointments will be made in the fall of
each year.
Article V: Co-directors
Section 1: One of the directors of the Advisory Committee will be a Presentation
sister appointed by the leadership team. One of the directors will be be an
associate recommended by members of the Advisory Committee and appointed by
the leadership team.
Section 2: Duties of the co-directors will be to implement the recommendations
of the Advisory Committee, develop agendas for meetings, and preside at the
meetings of the Advisory Committee.
Section 3: The co-directors will appoint a prayer leader and meeting
recorder.
Section 4: The co-directors will give an annual report to the Sisters of
the Presentation Leadership Team.
Article VI: Meetings
Section 1: The Advisory Committee meets at least four times a year.
Special meetings may be called by the leadership team or by the co-directors.
Section 2: Decisions will ordinarily be made using consensus.
Article VII: Committees
Section 1: The executive committee will consist of the co-directors.
Section 2: Ad hoc committees will be implemented as needed and may
draw membership from outside of the Advisory Committee.
Article VII: Amendments
The membership of the Advisory Committee will approve
amendments to the Constitution.
