Sisters, Associates, Family, Friends in Brief


• Sancta Maria, the motherhouse of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, in St. Louis, MO, was the site for a gathering of women religious under the age of 59 on October 21, 2006. Keynote speaker, Julie Lattner, SSND, the facilitator for the day, led the day’s discussion on ‘The call to community and the struggle to form it so our ministry can be prophetic.’ Traveling to attend this event were Sisters Jessi Beck, Carmen Hernandez, Ann Jackson, Julie Marsh and Jennifer Rausch.

• On November 18 and 19, Sisters Janet Stelken, Mary Dennis Lentsch, Marge Healy, and Joetta Venneman participated in the activities toward the closing of the School of Americas (WHISEC) at Fort Benning in Columbus, GA.

• On November 21, Presentation Day, sisters renewed their vows and associates renewed their commitments.

• On November 20, Sister Mary Lou Specha and students from the University of Northern Iowa assembled boxes of food and delivered them to over 200 needy persons of the area.

• The Presentation ‘Come and See’ retreat was held at Mount Loretto on October 28, 2006, with women attending from the colleges of St. Ambrose in Davenport, IA, and Iowa State in Ames, IA. Sister Rita Cameron helped facilitate the day with vocation director, Sister Carmen Hernandez. Retreatants were exposed to the life of Dubuque Presentation sisters through the sharing of personal vocation stories, ministry slides, prayer and reflection times. The day ended with a progressive meal to various sisters’ homes.
